West Ham talks 'advancing' for £15m transfer after snapping up Kalvin Phillips
West Ham are on the verge of two January signings.
West Ham are reportedly closing in on the signing of Nordsjaelland winger Ibrahim Osman on the same day they complete a loan deal for Kalvin Phillips. The Manchester City midfielder, 28, is expected to travel to London today to complete a medical with the Hammers and end speculation over his short-term future.
Phillips has appeared just four times in the Premier League for the champions in the 2023/24 campaign, following a first season where he also failed to play regularly following his £45million move from Leeds. And a six-month deal suits all parties, with Phillips wanting to keep himself in the frame for England selection in Euro 2024.
But West Ham are also seeking a permanent transfer in the form of Osman. The 19-year-old has played 17 times for the Danish top-flight club this season, scoring twice.
According to Sky Sports, talks between the two clubs are well underway, with the London club set to offer a £15million fee. And significantly, the Ghanaian star is a product of the same youth set-up as compatriot Mohammed Kudus.
Kudus is widely perceived to have been his side's best performer in the Premier League this season since his summer switch from Ajax, and has scored 10 times in all competitions. And like Osman, he graduated from the Right to Dream Academy, based in Ghana.
The multi-club multi-academy group, founded in 1999, has branches in Egypt and links to TUT FC, as well as Nordsjaelland and San Diego in the United States. Since 2007, more than 150 graduates have gone on to play professional football.
A double transfer boost for David Moyes will be welcomed by West Ham fans, who despite last season's Europa Conference League success have questioned the lack of ambition at the club. Sunday's 2-2 draw at Sheffield United left the Hammers sixth in the table.

Arsenal 'reject West Ham approach' for Smith Rowe due to Arteta belief
The club had previously been linked with a move for Emile Smith Rowe, who has struggled for game time at Arsenal. However, Mikel Arteta has quashed rumours of a deal, inisting the youngster remained an important squad player.
And the seemingly imminent signings of Phillips and Osman suggest Moyes is no longer pursuing the England international. Newcastle initially appeared the most likely destination for Phillips, but the North-East club baulked over the loan fee amid concerns about FFP regulations.
