The beautiful little UK market town with a name that sounds too posh to be true
Blandford Forum, a beautiful market town in Dorset with a ridiculously posh name, is one of England's most complete small Georgia towns.
A little market town with a ridiculously posh name is one of the most beautiful in the UK, and well worth a visit.
Blandford Forum in Dorset sits on the River Stour and has a population of 10,350.
The town is beautiful and full of historic architecture, with Visit Devon saying it is the most complete small Georgian town in England.
Its odd name likely derives from the Old English blǣge, believed to mean the ford where blay, a type of small fish, can be found.
Blandford Forum is also home to Hall & Woodhouse Brewery, where it was founded in 1777. The brewery operates over 250 pubs in south England.

There are a number of green places both in and around the town centre, such as Stour Meadows, Milldown Nature Reserve and the North Dorset Trailway.
