Professional cleaner says you should ditch these common household products immediately
A cleaner recently went viral on Tiktok after she advised people on what household products to avoid while cleaning.
Alyssa Armstrong is a professional cleaner from Michigan who owns the business Alyssa’s Deep Cleaning Company.
On TikTok, she regularly shares cleaning advice with her followers, including what products to avoid.
In a video last year, she advised her followers which popular items she would never buy for her own home.
The first item shown in the video is Windex, and she showed the blue bottle to her followers.
She said: “Windex is not the best glass cleaner and it’s not ammonia-free.”
Windex is an American brand of glass and hard-surface cleaners but it can also be found in the UK.
The brand does have an ammonia-free option for users, and it comes in a purple solution instead.
Alyssa also advised against using Mr Clean’s Magic Erasers, which are sponges which are meant to be used for everyday household use, such as for cleaning a bathtub, walls or even light switches.
The professional cleaner claimed the sponges were “way too expensive” and “break in like five seconds.”

Instead, Alyssa recommended the Scrub Daddy Eraser which can be picked up from supermarkets as well as stores like B&M.
Alyssa also said she is very particular about her cleaning sponges and won’t use anything other than Scrub Daddy products.
Scrub Daddy products have become extremely popular in recent years with a standout feature being they change texture based on the temperature of the water.
The traditional sponge is firm and rigid in cold water to help remove debris, but also soft and absorbent in warm water.
In the video, she added that this was just her preference and that people should use what works for them.
She said: “[This is my] personal opinion, I feel like you’re all going to come for me… but that’s okay.”
