A Place In The Sun's Jasmine Harman has shared a gripping tale from behind the scenes, revealing that police intervention was once required during filming. The seasoned presenter, who first graced our screens on the Channel 4 property show in 2004, has become a beloved figure among fans for her extensive knowledge and charismatic presence.

Jasmine, who has been helping British hopefuls find their perfect property abroad for two decades, recounted one particularly eventful day of shooting that resulted in the authorities being called. In a candid 2019 interview with Express, she opened up about some of the "biggest challenges" encountered while working on A Place In The Sun.

The property expert explained that filming on private land necessitates prior permission, which can sometimes be a complex process. According to Jasmine: "Sometimes something as silly as that. Just getting the right person to give the permission can be the trickiest thing."

She then delved into a memorable incident where the team was mistakenly granted permission by someone who thought they had the authority to do so. Jasmine reminisced: "We believed we had the permission and were filming."

"Then somebody else came and said, 'You can't sign that form', and called the police on us and that was pretty bad," she recounted. Jasmine and her crew were left without the necessary permissions to film inside the complex.

In a desperate move, they had to capture footage of the property from the roadside.

Reflecting on the ordeal, she continued: "That was a bit of a shock for me to have the police called. They didn't go for that property in the end. I think the house hunters were a bit put off by that."

In a separate update, Jasmine recently paid a heartfelt homage to her late co-star Jonnie Irwin as the programme celebrates its 20th year on air. The duo quickly became beloved figures on television following their debut episode on Channel 4 in February 2004, with their camaraderie growing stronger over time.

With the sad loss of Jonnie to lung cancer at the age of just 50 this past February, the presenter is bracing herself for an emotionally charged comeback on television.

Jasmine said to The Mirror: "I am so proud to have been part of A Place in the Sun for 20 years. It has been life changing for so many people and to be able to help hundreds of couples last time I counted it was 440.

"But [reaching this landmark] has also been very bittersweet. I still find it very hard even talking about Jonnie. It’s still very raw."

A Place In The Sun airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 3pm
